getting big already :o(

Carley is almost 6 weeks old. Growing sooo fast!!!! I worked horses all week and she did awesome while a friend watched her.... of course sleeping most of the time. She is still sleeping well at night too. The last couple of night she's gone 6 hours. Needless to say, I'm getting plenty of sleep. Usually when she does wake up around 6 or 6:30 am she is so happy, awake and smiling for an hour! It's so much fun.

anyway.. here are a couple of new pictures. More later.....

mommy's milk must be good

Carley was 12 pounds today...... and she's just four and a half weeks old. Sorry I don't have any new pictures ready to post today. I did take a really cute one the other day but I forgot my camera cord at home today.... bummer.

Well... the weather here was looking great until last night when it started raining. It's suppose to rain through the week end but hopefully next week will be nice and sunny again. I'm really looking forward to the nice weather ahead. It'll be fun to take both of the kids outside to play and go on long walks. We have a nice walking trail by the lake that is paved.. ... can't wait to use it again. Also, later this summer when Carley is a little older we'll take both the kids horse back riding. When Colton was about 6 months old we put him in a front pack (thanks to auntie Peggy) while riding.. I think he slept most of the way! So, yeah... it'll be fun to get back outdoors. Also, next week I actually start giving lessons again.. so that'll get me going... should be fun. I am teaching one little girl how to goat tie... can't wait.

Carley is two weeks old today... but here are some pictures of her over the last week.

At her one week appointment she was 6 oz past to her birth weight at 9lbs. 11 oz I'm guessing she's 10 lbs. by now. She is doing really well... sleeping all the time... and only waking up two times during the night. It's been great.. even Colton is sleeping through the night!!! Praise the LORD.

Carley's Birth

Carley Kae King has finally arrived!!!!

Baby Carley arrived at 11:56 am on February 10th. Much to our surprise she came VERY fast. My water did NOT break at all........... but I woke up at 5:30 am with strong contractions and back pain. I KNEW it was the real thing during each contraction but between each one I second guessed myself because I knew I needed to call my midwife and didn't want her to make a wasted trip to our house. (it's an hour and a half drive) so after timing contractions for two hours at 10 minutes apart and getting stronger I called. She knew I would have a faster labor this time and said she'd be on the road in less than an hour. As soon as I got off the phone with her at a little after 8 am, my contractions got closer, 5 minutes and then 3 and 5 minutes apart. I was still able to walk around the house and then I realized IF I was going to shower I better do it soon cause by now I was on my hands and knees for each contraction. I tried to feed Colton breakfast but kept finding myself leaving the kitchen for a couch or chair or the floor! So, I before Sean left to go pick up the midwives I decided to take a fast shower... well... my fast shower wasn't so fast because I had to kneel down four times... OK I suppose contractions at this time were on top of each other with little breaks between... probably 'cause I was still standing most of the time. When I got out, Nicky our neighbor girl came over to watch Colton and Sean left to get the midwives. I was a little worried they wouldn't make it in time.. but I still had not lost any fluid or blood. And Sean assured me it would ok! It took Sean at least a half hour to return with Marlene, they arrived at 11:00, she checked me and I was already dialated to 10 cm!!!! She said as soon as my water breaks the baby will will be born.... So, not knowing how much time we had she wasn't sure we should set up the birthing tub. Sean and I said lets try... So, a half hour went by and the tub was ready, so I got in and had two contractions where I felt like pushing a little. Colton came in during my first contraction in the tub and put his little hand on my face and stroked my cheek ( as if to say... "it's okay Mommy, I'm here" I reached over and gave him a little kiss and he left the room to check on his movie! On the third contraction in the tub I REALLY felt like pushing...by this time the camera was set up and Sean got in the tub... so with him behind me, supporting me I decided to try my first push.... I could feel the head coming out and heard the pop and water break, one push and a little scream... and her head came out... Sean was very surprised he had no idea the head was already out....I pushed really slow so I wouldn't rip, two more pushes and I pulled my beautiful little girl up into my arms.....Carley was born 30 minutes after I got in the tub and only an hour after my midwife got here. I was also the one to look and say "It's a girl".... little Colton was obviously awake and came into the room while I was holding her, he stared at her with wonderous eyes! But as soon as she started crying, he started crying and as soon as she stopped, he stopped! He's been kissing and hugging her every chance he gets since the moment she came into our home. I must say second births (at least mine) was sooooo much easier than my first. My first was 13 hours... from start to finish with about 8 hours of hard labor. This one was 6 and a half start to finish and only two hours of hard labor.. but hard labor this time was not even comparable to my first. For those of you wondering... a baby doesn't take it's a first breath until it's face touches air. Also, the reason I chose a water birth was to help relax me for the pushing stage and to also prevent ripping. All I can say, is.. IT worked... I was very relaxed and I did not rip. I thank the Lord for my wonderful birth experience. It was really amazing to have both my husband and little boy there with me during such a special bonding time. I was able to hold my baby while being in my husbands arms... we just stared in amazment at our new little daughter for at least 20 minutes... then I moved to the bed were I nursed her for the first time at 26 minutes old... she was a pro! Our first night went well.. Carley was great! I didn't fall asleep until 6 am the next morning and only slept for two hours. I couldn't take my eyes off her.... the next night I slept a few hour and since then I've been sleeping very well... and so has she!
Thank you Jesus for a wonderful new daughter and a wonderful birthing experience!

is this baby ever going to get here????

As of last Friday... I was 3 cm dialated and 80% effaced! Well.. now that it's almost been another week.. I wish I hadn't known that... but maybe by now I'm even more dialated and maybe I'll have a short labor. I have a lot of hard contractions but not quite hurting yet.. just uncomfortable. Well.. my birthday is Saturday... so maybe I'll make till then.... I wont be surprised now. Would be a great birthday present!

Sean went in for his oral interview this morning for the sheriffs department. It went well... we just wait to here in 10 days how it went... and then of course they start back ground checks and such.

My sister Lacey was here for a week.... wow.. it went fast.. as always! We had fun just hanging out... she helped me paint and decorate two bedrooms. They aren't done yet but at least we have a really good start! Ashlee will be coming out sometime after the baby comes. Can't wait!

Well.. keep posted for baby pictures!!!! Hopefully coming soon!

Last appointment..........maybe

We started out late for our appointment due to getting stuck in our drive way. Poor Sean (with his broken ankle) had to shovel snow for a good half hour before we could get out... then when we finally got out... he had to shovel a different drive way to get up it and to our gate.... Yes, we are expecting more snow this week on top of the foot that we already have.

Appointment went well.... Marlene thinks the baby is about 8 lbs. 4 oz and Kaleem says she always right.. maybe an once off... So if it's born this week it wont be as big as Colton but if I go another week or two it will probably be another 9 pounder.. since they gain a half pound a week at the end. The heart beat was 148 and I'm measuring 37 cm. Last week I was dialated to 1 cm but they didn't check me yesterday as I just didn't want to know... they said it doesn't mean anything anyway.. if I was dialated to 3 I could stay there for a couple weeks or I could still go into labor at any minute. She did say the baby was defenetly dropped even more than last week. So, Lacey get's here tomorrow and I'm hoping the baby comes after she gets here this week end or next week sometime... as long as she is still here. I just don't want her to miss it when she'll only be here for 8 days and coming all the way from Nashville. Can't wait.

no baby yet

Well, no baby yet... but I still have at least a week until my due date which isn't even a for sure date... But I had an appointment with my midwife yesterday. Her and my doula both came up to our house to see where we live and check things out. I'm dialated 1 cm and 40% effaced and measuring 36 cm. They think it will be at least a week to 10 days from now. We'll see if they are right I guess. They are also bringing a birthing tub for me to try and have a waterbirth. That may sound gross to some but heck, if it make's me more comfortable I don't care! She also guessed that the baby is about 7 1/2 pounds right now......so, as long as I don't go a week over it might weight less than Colton. Even if it is over 9 lbs she thinks it will be faster than Colton and that I'll do fine, since I did it once already! So, I'm not too worried either. Lacey will be here on the 25th if I haven't had it by then.. otherwise she'll come before then. Ashlee is coming the 31st along with my cousin Danielle. They are planning a ski trip for the 1st, so I'm hoping I at least have the baby before then! I'll keep ya'll posted!

Christmas

This was our first Christmas together where we actually had a tree....we also hosted a Christmas Day dinner at our home. It turned out wonderful...with my home made buns (dinner rolls) Grandma Doris helped me cook the ham and brought sweet patatoes and Sean's mom Brandy brought the turkey. Our house is still far from being finished and we have so much to do even before the baby comes. But some of it will just have to wait.

In this picture I am 35 weeks pregnant... as you can see it looks as if I'll be having another 9 pounder... we'll see! Guess I did it once I can probably do it again! :o)

Colton is getting so big....learning and doing more new things every day. He is starting to talk more.. but still likes to babble baby talk most of the time. This morning we woke up with over an inch of snow on the ground and Colton LOVED playing in it... our next purchas will be a sled :o)

Sean is selling fire wood now as a one of his jobs. The last three weeks we have sold almost a cord a day.

My sisters Lacey and Ashlee will be coming out the end of January and we all look forward to a good time with them. Can't wait!

OH< we had an ultra-sound a few weeks ago... NO, we didn't find out the sex of the baby but we did find out that I am probably due a week later then we thought.... so that puts us at Jan. 31st. From what I could tell the baby looks like it has Coltons nose and chin. Very CUTE!

We still don't have a boy's name but for a girl it will either be Martina Kay or Karley Anne King. We were thinking about Dakota James for a boy.. but are not set on that at all... any ideas would be great!

November 13, 2007

Poor little Colton got his shots today..... he was bouncing off walls as they say....before we went in to see the doc. But when we got in, he was really good for the physical and then when it came time for shots he of course cried but as soon as I was getting him dressed he was done crying. I was so proud of him.

He turned 15 months yesterday... wow is he getting big... my little baby is such a little man now. He is 25 1/2 pounds as of today.... yesterday he started saying "no, no" mostly when I ask him a question.... he just says "no" in a real soft voice.... not knowing what he means by it.. it's so cute....

This week I am 30 weeks along... this baby feels like another big one... I'm all baby, when I feel my stomach it's just all hard... this baby moves a lot like Colton but the kicks don't feel as hard.. it seems more gentle. hmmm maybe a girl??

I'm going to try to get an ultra-sound this week. I have a friend who is an ultra-sound tech and is going to sneak me in......... can't wait. BUT NO.. if your wondering... we are NOT going to find out what it is... although as hard as it has been coming up with names I've been tempted! :p We just want to see where the placenta is at and make sure it's in a safe place. until next time.... LOVE YOU ALL!

week 29 description

Week Twenty-Nine
Your baby's head is in proportion with body now. He appears more like a newborn each and every day!
Fat continues to accumulate under the skin -- only now preparing for entering the *real world*.
Your baby's brain can control primitive breathing and body temperatures.
His eyes can move in their sockets. Soon he will be able to follow a blinking light.
Your baby is increasingly sensitive to changes in light, sound, taste, and smell! Various studies show that your baby may indicate preferences (or disdain) for particular tastes or odors at this stage
He is also moving from side to side, but probably still is head up. In the next few weeks, he will move to the head down birthing position. At times you may feel as if he is performing somersaults for a circus act!
Her length is now approximately 15.2 inches (38.6cm) and weight is 2.54 pounds (1153gm)

Update....

Well, here I am at 29 weeks pregnant... getting bigger but closer every day. I was measuring right on 29 cm at my last appointment. Baby's heart beat was strong but slower than last time at 148 bpm.

Not much new going on but here are a few new pictures of the crew~

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanks Giving!

just a quick note....

Yesterday was our 2 year anniversary! WOW... how time flies!!!! We didn't do too much...Sean had to work... and is just finishing up a deck he is building. We're hoping to spend a day doing something fun when the deck is finished.. should be this week. Tonight Grandma and Grandpa Wojahn are taking us out to dinner and music.. maybe even dancing! Guess we'll see when we get there.

I'll be 25 weeks pregnant on Thursday... (I suppose the thought of a pregnant woman dancing isn't too cool lol) I'm getting bigger and more uncomfortable every day. I can't complain though 'cause I still have so far to go until the end of this pregnancy. But I still thank God it's going as good as it is...it's been a true blessing!

Colton is still doing great! Keeping me very busy... he is loving our new home and all the room to run and play. although his favorite time is playing outside and can never get enough! He also is enjoying sitting on the horses and riding his rocking horse. I think he's going to be a true cowboy some day....

until next time....

We can't believe how big our little man is getting.. and to believe that we have another one coming is way cool. We really look forward to the day that Colton becomes a big a brother!

BTW, the pregnancy is going great! The heart beat has been over 160 the last two appointments..... sooooo we are sort of hoping it's a girl... but of course would LOVE another boy as well. We are having a really hard time coming up with a boy and a girl name this time.. so if anyone has ideas.. please let us know. The actually hard part is just agreeing on the same one!

Take Care...

heading out......

Well, our time here at the Hewitt ranch is coming to an end again. We are heading out tomorrow morning with a load of horses and heading south. We'll be making a stop in New Mexico, Flagstaff Arizona and on home to California!

It's always fun to be home with family and of course sad when we have to part. Tomorrow Mom, Mallori and Jessica are helping Katrice and Ray move to Nashville. Lacey is here and heading back with them as well. I would say it might be pretty quiet around here after we all take off but there will still be 7 children at home :o)

We even managed to get a family picture taken this morning but ya'll will just have to wait until Christmas to see that one!

off to bed.....

will write more when we get home to Cali....
