My babies are growing up... Stetson will be 16 months on the 8th of January.  I found these three pictures of each of them .. they were all here on my blog.. so if I looked through all my cds I maybe could have found more similar looking ones.. but I've been wanting to do a comparison picture for a long time.. still want to do one of them all as infants too.. especially for my wall at home.   Man do they grow up fast!  OH so CUTE!

Christmas at the KINGS

We definitely made the best of our Christmas.  Daddy watched from Iraq through skype! We were so happy he had Christmas Eve day off and got to watch everything!  The kids were very excited to share their excitement with him. We love and miss you so much Daddy... see you soon!

These are somewhat of a random order.. (click pics to enlarge)

My friend Ladoshie came to wrap gifts with me and make enchiladas

ready for Christmas...

The week before Christmas and it's finally starting to feel homey in here.  I spent a couple of hours looking around at Hobby Lobby, my new favorite store!!!  I found this rustic wall hanging the week before and then just the other day I went back and found the sconces and candles.

The curtains were on sale at Anna's Linens.  As much as I wanted to make All the curtains for my house...I broke down and bought these.  I couldn't find fabric that I liked for the living room and even though we have blinds I wanted them heavy enough to block out light..

The kids and I made a late night run to Walmart and finally picked up a tree as well.  I didn't have the truck .. so I tied it on top the mini van.  I'm kinda bummed that I didn't get a picture of that!  It was only 6 1/2 feet tall.. but yes.. I carried it in and set up by myself! oh, how I love the smell of the outdoors!

So, needless to say last week was extremely busy with all the shopping..  a great friend of mine also watched the kids so that I could Christmas shop for them.  I got everything done for in about 2 hours!  It was so amazing to actually walk in a store ALONE!  I even made a phone call while pushing a shopping cart. (thank you Kathryn)

Check back soon for pictures from Christmas Eve and Christmas morning! Might be hard for me to take pictures, video tape and help the kids with their gifts..most importantly though we're going to #1 read the Christmas Story... #2 celebrate his Birth with a cake!  I want me kids to know it's ALL about HIM... not Santa, not presents...   I find it hard not to fall into the whole Santa thing when all their friends and neighbors (even the 9 year olds) still believe in him.  It's so sad to me that their parents can put that much effort into teaching them about something that isn't even real.  But only take their kids to church during the off school summer months.  So, instead of telling them that if they be good Santa will bring them nice things.. why not teach and tell them what Blessings Jesus can bring into their lives if they decide to follow Him?  Even at age 2 and 4 children can learn to honor their Lord and Savior. They are already learning right from wrong and the consequences of their action.  So, I think they can learn the consequences of sin. and the blessings we can also receive if we do the will of God.  Children love to please us.. they love to make us happy.  Sure they aren't perfect and I find myself getting frustrated way more than I should.  But there is a lesson in that too. Mommy's aren't perfect but at the end of every day if I ask Jesus to forgive me and I repent of my wrong doings.. He forgives me each and every time. I pray that I can continue to be that kind of parent..  Always their for my children and always willing to forgive, what we know as unconditional love.

(I John 1:9) 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness [phileo], and in your brotherly kindness, love [agape]. (2 Peter 1:5-7)

and we've all heard this one...

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:1-13)

so anyway.. here's what my recent decor looks like... let me know what you think!

The curtains are a little plain but with some colorful pillows and a few more things on the wall I think I'll be able to tie it in nice.. and I can change my accent colors in the future if I want to.  They are about as rustic as I could find around here!  (that will go in a house with all white walls).  I'm going to hang a sepia wedding picture on both sides of the saddle picture above the couch. Got the pictures just no frames yet. oh.. end tables and lamps yet to come as well!

my first candy cane and hot chocolate of the season! mmm yummy!

Stetson....15 months old!

December already..........NOOOOOOOOOOOOO........

I didn't want to think or believe that this Christmas would be any different!  I'm trying to stay positive even though my husband wont be here to pray over our Christmas meal, read the Christmas Story or see the the children open their gifts!  Well, maybe on skype!  Who would have thought...    guess it's better than no skype.   Even so it's taken me awhile to get into the Christmas spirit and even though we get a pay check every two weeks I have to budget and plan ahead.  Last month that didn't go so good because I had to buy new tires for the mini van. Well.. with that said I haven't been able to buy gifts or get a Christmas tree yet.  So, when the 15th comes I'll be shopping like crazy with only a week to get ready. Since it is only me and the kids I don't feel everything has to be perfect but still I want it to be fun.  I also want to get some cute pictures!  I thought until I got paid I could try and do some sewing.  Maybe make a few gifts, a skirt for the tree and stockings...

This apron for Carley is about ALL that I've got done!  But I'm going to wrap it up and let her open it.. as I know she'll love to be just like mommy and wear it when we make cookies!  She loves to bake and cook with me :) So happy I have such a good helper in the kitchen.  She also likes to help me load and unload the dishwasher!

So, here it is... front and back...... I might add some sort of design or maybe her name to the bib.

I love how this pattern has the adjustable straps that go through
a sleeve and up around the neck! The big pockets on the front will also be handy.

it even matches mine!

Praise You In This Storm

much to be thankful for......

I woke up to one of my worst nightmares this morning...   I got up two hours early to get ready for church, was looking forward to taking the kids to cowboy church.  Colton was excited to wear his new cowboy boots and bibs. I was feeling refreshed and happy (got my hair done last night, thanks to TIFFANY)... but I went to the bathroom and to my surprise I saw three maggots on the bathroom floor... since this had happened before I looked out the bathroom (yes, the door was open) and could see my kitchen floor covered in them!  I felt like crying... but called my friend Michelle and told her we would NOT be making it to church. I got everything cleaned up about the time we would have been leaving.   WEll, the devil got his way and the King family did NOT attend church. I still have not had time to read my bible as I was sore and exhausted and decided to take an afternoon nap after talking with Sean . I decided amongst all my problems today whether it be creepy crawly little worms all over my house to a crabby teething baby or a 4 year old pestering me ALL  DAY LONG to go play with the neighbor kids... I could still be happy and  TRY to enjoy my day.   On the bright side..... my laundry room, bathroom, garbage closet, kitchen and dining room are all bleached and smelling wonderful!!!!!!!  The neighbor girls even came and helped me clean upstairs and vacuumed the whole house... and the neighbor boy cleaned up my back yard.  I kept thinking the Rental agency was going to show up today.. since I called and talked to Will on their emergency line this morning and told him all about my problem.  I guess they'll come tomorrow!  Anyway... I'm beginning to wonder if this is a sign from GOD.  See, I've been debating weather to move on post or not... and guess what the first thing to pop into my head was this morning?  YES.. you got it...  moving!  BUT Sean is gone and I'd have to do all the packing myself.  We've been here 7 months and I still feel like I just got settled in.. still making curtains and hanging pictures! LOL   Anyway.. grandma Doris says if it's meant to be all the right doors will be opened and if not, they will be closed.  I think I'm going to go talk to housing this week just to see what's available.  If there is something in Kouma Village I may take the plunge!  Also, of course my wonderful army wife friends have already offered to help me move!  One of the reasons for moving would be to save around 300.00 a month.

Anyway... evening is falling... and it's time for me to read my bible.   This song just came on KLOVE and it brought tears to my eyes.  Always, what I need to hear, when I hear it! I will forever support this great station :o)

I miss Sean like crazy today....only got to talk to him for a few minutes, his internet was down last night.. so hopefully it'll work tonight and we'll be able to talk more.   I know I have friends going through much worse things right now....like this is so minor.  I am sure everyone has these days though, where you feel everything is against you.  But you know what? My God is huge and nothing can come between US!  I love you Jesus and thank you so much that I have a home that is filled with little blond blessings running everywhere!

My first ACU BAG!!!!

Ok.. so I got a babysitter and went to a sewing class. I of course could have saved 30.00 and figured this out on my own by watching youtube video or reading directions off of paper...  but my amazing husband encouraged me to get out for the day and do something fun and learn how to do it RIGHT!  SOOO glad I listened and took the time to learn.  I made this amazing little diaper bag/big purse, whatever you want to call it. I just need to get all of Sean's patches on it so it'll look like a real ARMY WIFE bag.  Since my machine doesn't embroider I am going to get the name tags done with blue matching thread.  Then of course on the large velcro pockets I'll have the 1st Cavalry patch.

This is the front that will have "KING" on the left and maybe ARMY WIFE on the right

There are two slanted pockets you can't see very good.   The center patch is for their rank but I
could also put something else there instead.

this is the back that will have the Cavalry Patches

And the inside has one large pocket on the left and on the right I took one
really big pocket and made two small pockets and a pen holder pocket.  The straps are made
of name tag strap that i can get from the military surplus stores.. I just added my own fabric to the
back side, the inside of the bag is lined with fusable badding.

I have several more to make so let the orders begin!!!!
Email me if your interested sheilah@wiktel.com  For those of you NOT in the militray I could skip the outside velcro patches.

Goodies in the MAIL

My wonderful friend Wendy in California and her friend Tina sent me and the kids a box of surprises~  Colton and Carley were so excited to open it and find a whole book of stickers!  Carley got My little PONY stickers and Colton got Winnie the Pooh! There was a cute little box that she made for me!  You can kind of see it in the big box... and it was full of caramels, pop cycle sticks and a recipe for caramel apples.  I can NOT tell you how GREAT they were... but hopefully these pictures will do them justice!  I hadn't had one in years!  This will definitely be an on-going project and treat for me and the kids!  THANK YOU WENDY AND TINA and your FAMILIES, for thinking of this military family so far away :)  Most of all thank you for your prayers!

Don't you just want one right about now???

...................... and the apples were perfectly sour!

Birthday Boys... (belated)

This was the worst frosting EVER

Stetson and his friend Jay
My children are growing up before my eyes and I wish I could just pause time so that I can hug them and kiss their little cheeks forever!  We got to celebrate both boys bdays before Sean left so this was the last "PARTY" we had together!  Colton's bday was August 12th and Stetsons was September 8th.  We celebrated at Chuckee Cheese with some neighbors and military friends.
